Ecstasy As Debutant TSI FA Won Olansile Cup 3rd Edition

Osogbo based football academy TSI FA have emerged the champion of Olansile Cup 2020 at the Osogbo Township Stadium after a fierce contest with House of Prayer FC from Ilorin on boxing day evening.

Having dumped past their neighbor Laplanet SA in the semi final via a penalty shootout after the goalless encounter, Ilorin based side picked the final ticket and waited TSl FA who pipped Knights FA by three goals to one.

The tournament which is in its third edition lived up to its hype as the two sides tangos for most part of the first stanza before Opeyemi Adeyemo broke the deadlock just before half time.

The refired prayer warriors came back stronger after the restart as Joshua Aiyenugba out muscle his marker before sizing up Abdul Malik in goal for TSI who was left stranded after the loop has nested perfectly thereby increased his goal tally to two.

Opeyemi Adeyemo thought his second goal would be the match winner as he was provided the golden chance of scoring the winning goal from the spot after House of Prayer defender pulled down TSI forward but he fluffed the chance as he erringly aimed at keeper's path which kept the game opened for another threeR minutes.

The game which ended 3-2 in favor of TSI FA after the shootout produced TSI FA as the winner of the third edition of Olansile Cup. TSI's Adekunle Kolawole emerged the tourney's Most Valuable Player while Ajayi George of Knights FA won the tournament's highest goal scorer with 3 goals as House of Prayer team was given the Fair Play Team Award.

The tournament's General Coordinator Tunde Shamsudeen lauded the financier of Olansile Cup, Sulaimon Olansile for his vision and consistency in making sure that Olansile Cup remain the most glamorous grassroot tourney in the state as he equally appreciate the partner of the tourney Multiple O's Plus Nig. Ltd for identifying with the brand.

Barrister Paul Edeh Donates Another 500KVA Transformer To Hausa Community In Otukpo

The Hausa Community in Otukpo, Benue State on Christmas day, heaved a sigh of relief as Philanthropist and President of Naija Ratels Football Club, Barrister Paul Edeh donated a 500KVA transformer sub-station worth over N7m to boost electricity supply to the area, which has been without power for more than than 11 months.

The event which was held in Otukpo, had in attendance, the Senator representing the good people of Benue South Senatorial district and former Minister of Interior, Senator Abba Moro and some other great son's and daughters of the Idoma Nation.

Speaking after handing over the transformer sub-station to the Christian and Muslim Community of Otukpo, the Legal luminary noted that it was necessary for him to donate the sub-station after he learnt that the community have been without power for close to a year.

The United Nations Peace Ambassador said the new transformer would boost power supply, address the challenges of electricity supply faced by the people and also promote economic activities in the community which was hitherto before then grounded due to the power outage.

"You will recall that today is exactly 166 days since I donated the first transformer to Zone HB Community and a generator set to the Divisional Police Headquarter in Otukpo , which was of course motivated by the fact that they have not had light for a long time. Sadly, i also understand that this same community I donated transformer to, today have not also had light for close to a year with all economic activities grounded.

"When I got that information, almost three months ago, I was hoping and waiting that the authority concerned (Jos Electricity Distribution Company) will do the needful but they didn't. So in on of those days in my hotel room in Uyo, I felt the need to reach out to the community and I made that call around 12 midnight and truly realised they have been in darkness for almost a year and hence, I took the onus to assist them by providing a brand new 500kva transformer.

"Indeed what I did was to build a new substation from the scratch to finish which was done within two weeks and today while celebrating Christmas with the same community, we decided to commision it and it was done by no other person, but Senator Abba Moro.

"Truly, the  Muslim community are the biggest beneficiary of this donation and they were very elated and happy about the development. Infact the Transformer is located beside the St Mary Catholic Church which is adjacent the Central mosque. So I am happy that the Muslim and Christian community benefited from this project.

"The truth is that I  have never been a politician and not all of us must get into politics to make impacts in our community. What is important is having the right mindset and heart  to give back to the society, which is what I am doing. Am glad that for the first time in almost a year, these people will enjoy uninterrupted power supply and that is exactly what pleases my heart as a person." He concluded.

Commissioning the transformer sub-station earlier, the Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District Distinguished Senator Abba Moro commended Barr Paul Edeh for his efforts at complimenting the efforts of the Government by providing another transformer sub-station within a space or 6 months.

He noted that rather than sit in the comfort of his office like many critics who prefer to criticise government for lack of provision of basic amenities, he rather chose to assist his community.

“For the second time within this year I am coming to commission a transformer provided by a son of Idoma land Barrister Paul. Each time Paul tells me I should commission a project, I have never asked him what is actually your motivation. Because when I begin to listen to the story of Paul, it is a story of somebody who denies himself happiness to make the other person happy.

"He is a person who tirelessly works so hard with a hard face to put a smile on the faces of other people. Paul has been a typical example of what I tell people that you don’t have to be in government to help the other person.” Senator Abba Moro stated

The Chairman of the Muslim Youth in the community, Alhaji Aliyu Yinusa thanked Barrister Paul Edeh for coming to their rescue and commended him for keeping the faith with the Muslim and Hausa Community.

"We can't thank Barrister Paul Edeh enough, he has done something that pleases the heart of everyone in this community. We have been without power for almost a year now, and God sent Barrister Paul Edeh to help us out from this difficult situation.

"We shall jealously guard the equipment because we don't want to go back to the days of darkness. He concluded.

Senator Abba Moro commissioned the project and performed the ceremonial switching on of the light which signalled the availability of electricity supply to the community after almost a year with the community going wild with jubilation.

The Chairman of the Gboko based side,  Mr. Chur Jr MichaelRandy noted that the club is aware of the challenges ahead in terms of the new club licensing/documentation policy introduced by the Sports Ministry and the NWFL under the leadership of Aisha Falode.

"We understand we might not be able to cope with the financial terms, club licensing, documentation and other requirements under the new policy of the NWFL.

It is worthy of mention that the paper work has been done and the NWFL leadership under the Chairperson of Aisha Falode has since done the change of name and endorsed Naija Ratels FC as a team in the NWFL Championship.

"I want to use this opportunity to thank the Chairman of Invincible Angels FC Mr Chur Jr MichaelRandy for giving us the right to take their slot. I also want to thank the Chairperson of the NWFL Ms Aisha Falode for making the process of our registration seamless.

Ogechi Ukwuoma's late goal denied Ibom Angels Manager Moruf Adeyemo his first win of the 2021 NWFL Premiership season as Pelican Stars earned a 1-1 draw at their homeground, U. J Usuene Stadium, Calabar.

Uduakaobong Peter looked to have secured all three points for the 'Orange Ladies' after she scored in the 47th minute, but Pelican Stars continued pressing until they were rewarded late on.

Pelican Stars will travel to Osogbo to face Osun Babes nextweek, while Ibom Angels will be at home to Royal Queens.

Nasarawa Amazons 1 Bayelsa Queens 2

Definitely a dejavu for Nasarawa Amazons Manager Christopher Danjuma losing to Bayelsa Queens by 2-1, same scoreline recorded in 2019. Only that Anjor Mary scored just once this time around in the 24th minute, before Amarachi Okoronkwo equalised in the 55th minute to give the 'Solid Babes' an array of hope in the game but Joy Bokiri's late strike gave the visitors the maximum points.

Perhaps the worst start for Christopher Danjuma since he became head coach of Nasarawa Amazons and will definitely be looking at redeeming his side's battered image when they travel down to the Confluence Stadium to face Confluence Queens nextweek.

The players of Sunshine Queens have been charged to go for the jugular in today's (Wednesday) week two Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) encounter with Confluence Queens of Lokoja at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure.

NWFL Premiership Week 2 Preview: Nasarawa Amazons, Ibom Angels Aim At Redeeming Matchday One Home Loss

Nineteen goals were scored from seven games played last wednesday in the 2021 NWFL Premiership opener, Nine less than we had in the 2019 season.

We had some shocking results in week one, FC Robo traveling down Lafia to pick maximum points against Nasarawa Amazons, Osun Babes also picked a win in Uyo against Ibom Angels.

There would be more exciting times across seven centres this Wednesday, with FC Robo taking on Osun Babes in Lagos, Pelican Stars up with neighbours Ibom Angels, Abia Angels travel down to Warri to face Royal Queens, DreamStar Ladies will be at home to Edo Queens, Rivers Angels Vs Delta Queens and Sunshine Stars Vs Confluence Queens.

The heavyweight clash of this midweek will be the game between Nasarawa Amazons and Bayelsa Queens at the Lafia City Stadium. On paper, this should be an explosive game, but as we learned in this industry, some of these big games do not live up to the hype. However from the matchday one result recorded by Nasarawa Amazons, we should expect a mouth-watering clash.

As usual www.thenwfl.com will be previewing all the seven games.

#FC Robo Queens Vs Osun Babes FC.

This fixture is always regarded as a tough one, not even after both teams are just coming  back from an impressive away victory in Lafia and Uyo respectively.

The 'Lagos Landladies' defeated Osun Babes home and away in 2019 and will be looking at taking the maximum point on Wednesday.

Though it is always a difficult tie with a very close scoreline, I don't expect it to be different this season.

Rukayat Shobowale, Monday Gift, Kehinde Akinwande and others will be hoping to make their Manager Osahon Emmanuel happy while Yemisi Samuel, Yetunde Fajobi, Sarah Iloduba and others will be hoping to get their second win of the season.

#Pelican Stars Vs Ibom Angels

Both teams lost in their week one fixture and will be hoping to get a favourble result in week two. Edat Egan and Moruf Adeyemo are two experienced managers in the Women's League and will be taking this match more than serious.

Both sides will be under a lot of pressure, for Ibom Angels, they lost t home in their first game, while Pelican Stars lost 2-0 to Abia Angels in Umuahia. Pelican Stars will have to do more if they are to win this game  It is a south-south Derby and much is expected from the two sides.

#Royal Queens Vs Abia Angels.

The 'Canadian Geese' were hammered 4-1 by Edo Queens last week and they would want to immediately remedy that when they host Abia Angels, who won against Pelican Stars in the opening day fixture on Wednesday at the Warri Township Stadium.

Following the resignation of Abayomi Olorunda, who took the team from the Championship to the Premiership, the team started a new chapter under Paul Mene last week in Benin and Abia Angels could be another big test for them.

The more experienced Bukola Oni may start in goal for Royal Queens after missing out on Benin, while Alake Rahinat, Vera Samuel, Chioma Oliseh and others need to play well to achieve a great result against a very good Abia Angels side. .

#DreamStar Ladies Vs Edo Queens

The Galaticas will welcome the 'Obaseki Ladies' to the Agege Township Stadium, Lagos for Wednesday's NWFL Premiership week two encounter. The Lagos based side were taken apart by Delta Queens last Wednesday and they will want to quickly bounce back from the defeat with a very good showing against Edo Queens.

The visitors will be going into the game on a high, after winning Royal Queens in their week one encounter. In this same fixture one year ago, Edo Queens came out victorious in Lagos and will be looking at repeating the same feat. DreamStar Ladies have some exciting youngsters and will give their all infront of their fans to record their first victory of the season.

Mercurial midfielder Juliet Emereole have alot to shoulder from the midfield and also as Captain, Anuoluwapo Salisu will be aiming at replicating what she did in Agbor last week, while big signing Hambefen Ayatsea should live up to expectations in the game.

Edo Queens seem to be more experienced in all ramifications, but time will tell if Tessy Biahwo, Taibat Odueke and others will have a great game in Lagos.

#Rivers Angels Vs Delta Queens

Rivers Angels will welcome the 'Okowa Ladies' to the Adokiye Anesiemaka stadium, Porthacourt with the sole aim of handing out a defeat to their South-south neighbours Delta Queens. Delta Queens have improved markedly and that saw them tore DreamStar Ladies apart on matchday one.

Rivers Angels Manager, Edwin Okon understands that winning is important and will want to add to the one point gained at the Confluence Stadium, against Confluence Queens last week.

#Sunshine Queens Vs Confluence Queens.

Both teams will be searching for their first win of the season. Sunshine Queens lost to Bayelsa Queens in Yenogoa, while Confluence Queens drew 1-1 at home against Rivers Angels.

This game should witness alot of goalscoring opportunities as both sides play free-flowing attacking football.

Whyte Ogbonda hs settled his differences with the Club's management and ready to face  'Betty Babes' in Akure with his arsenal's.

Joy Omewa will be hoping to score her first league goal, while Innocent Patricia, Suliat Abideen will be aiming for a win on Wednesday.

#Nasarawa Amazons Vs Bayelsa Queens

This is the biggest match of the week and much more looking like a dejavu for Nasarawa Amazons except they come out stronger this time around.

The last time these two teams met in Lafia, Bayelsa Queens came out on top 2-1 with Anjor Mary scoring a brace.

Both sides also met in the finals of the Flying Officers Pre-season Championship, where Bayelsa Queens won by a lone goal scored by Barakat Olaiya.

Christopher Danjuma understands that anything short of victory would be a disappointment to the fans, not after losing at home to FC Robo Queens in their first game of the season.

NWPL: Loveth Edeh Predicts A 'Tough And Marvelous' Season For Obaseki Girls

NWPL: Loveth Edeh Predicts A 'Tough And Marvelous' Season For Obaseki Girls

Akanni Seyi

Former Osun Babes midfielder Loveth Edeh believes Edo Queens have all the requirements and resources to land the team on the top of the log and thereby earn her side a continental slot.

Edo Queens have done brilliantly well by  rejigging their technical department and their working personnels have also been fortified ahead of the current campaign.

Edo Queens enjoyed total control over their neighbour from the blast of the whistle and Rollandson Odeh tutored side secured a comfortable win over  Royal Queens by 4-1. Tessy Biahwo scored twice for "Obaseki Girls" while Taibat Odueke also got her name on the score sheet.

Jointly occupying first position on the log after match day one, the erstwhile Delta Queens play maker is optimistic that her current side would go all out smoking when matter most in the current campaign.

"My thought is that we had a good start and I believe with the likes of experienced players in our armoury, we are going for new records, finishing the  season stronger will be our watchword.

"Our main target is playing in the Caf tourney and possibly winning the trophy.

"With hard work and God on our side, we will achieve our aim. The squad is ready to repay the investments of the state government with laurels and we have determined not to settle for less." Edeh concluded.

Edo Queens are set to chase another victory to Lagos in match day two as DreamStar Ladies who were trashed in Asaba (4-1) are set to have their hands full in Agege Stadium.

Ire-West Tourney: Olansile FA get New Star FC In The Semi Final

Ire-West Tourney: Olansile FA get New Star FC In The Semi Final

A dicey clash awaits 'Shile Squad' in the first semi final of the ongoing Bibi-lre soccer competition tagged #IreWest2020.

Having won two and lost one game in the group stage of the much publicized pre-season tourney which is aimed at preparing clubs for the forthcoming season, the foremost football academy in the state were pinned on the top of the log in Group A.

With total number of six goals scored and four conceded during the group phase, the encounters which symmetrically lived up to its hype has Osogbo based football academy in the same group with Nigeria Nationwide League One outfits Knights FC, Choice FC of Ado Ekiti and non league side Future Stars FC.

Having dispatched fellow neighbor Future Stars with two goals to one courtesy of Oyewumi Tayo and Pelumi Olaoluwa's sensational delivery, in the first match, Shile Boys made their intentions known going forward.

A goal in each half by Ganiyu Wasiu and Adebola Tunde ensured that Knights FC were not spared in the second group game, the match that has Olaoluwa Daniel sent off in the 32nd minute of the spiffy duel, yet the 'Blue Army' marvelously completed the task unscathed.

Having gathered six points in two games, Choice FC came back to life to snap up a win in the third group game, having lost to Knights FC and shared spoils with Future Stars before to amass four (4) points with superior goal advantage over Knights FC who were jointly pegged at 4points on the log.

The main bowl of Obafemi Awolowo University Sports Complex will once again come alive on Saturday 12th December 2020 as Olansile FA and the Group B runner's up New Star FC have already booked a date while leader  Gidado FA will tango with fellow NLO counterpart Choice FC of Ado-Ekiti in the second semi-final battle.

NWFL Premiership: Week 1 Review: Edo Queens And Delta Queens Dominate While Nasarawa Amazons, Ibom Angels Fail To Win At Home.

The 2021 NWFL Premiership got underway on wednesday with the match-day one fixtures played across seven centres in the country which created some thrilling moments in the Nigeria Women Football top-tier.

The first match of the new season recorded 19 goals, two away victories, a draw and four home wins.

Nasarawa Amazons 0 FC Robo 1

Nasarawa Amazons on Wednesday lost their second consecutive league opener at home. In 2019, the "Solid Babes"  lost their first game at home to Bayelsa Queens with Anjor Mary scoring a brace in that encounter.

The home team created alot of goal scoring chances in the first half, but failed to convert them, however they were punished in the 32nd minute through FC Robo's young forward Shobowale Rukayat.

Ibom Angels 0 Osun Babes 1

Osun Babes started the season in an impressive fashion with a win at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo. The opening half hour left much to be desired as both teams struggled to make strings of successful passes, but Osun Babes woke up after the mark. Yetunde Fajobi sent in a low cross  that was met by Yemisi Samuel and the forward wasted no time in converting coolly to give the Omoluabi Queens an away victory.

Bayelsa Queens 2 Sunshine Queens 1

Bayelsa Queens Captain Joy Jerry started the season with aplomb as she led the Restoration Ladies to a 2-1 win over strong opponent Sunshine Queens FC.

Precious Vincent who just joined from Sunshine Queens scored the second goal in the 27th minute, while Seun Fakunle reduced the deficit in the 41st minute.

Edo Queens 4 Royal Queens 1

Edo Queens enjoyed total control over their opponents from the blast of the whistle. It was a comfortable win for the Rollandson Odeh girls as they romped over their neighbours Royal Queens by 4-1. Tessy Biahwo scored twice for the "Obaseki Girls" while Taibat Odueke also got her name on the scoring list.

Confluence Queens 1 Rivers Angels 1

The hosts played a good game, regularly threatening Ibubeleye Whyte in the first ten minutes of the game and got rewarded in the 7th minute through Glory Edet, but Regina Otu got Rivers Angels levelled in the 14th minute to make it 1-1.

Abia Angels 2 Pelican Stars 0

Abia Angels played an impressive attacking game against Pelican Stars at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Wednesday evening. Margeret Ademulegun's sublime free-kick in the 15th minute handed the 'Angels from the East' a lead before Jane Abraham doubled in the 47th minute to give the host a 2-0 victory over the Ayade Ladies.

Delta Queens 4 DreamStar Ladies 1

Delta Queens started off the 2021 campaign with a big win over Lagos based team DreamStar Ladies in Agbor. Former Jokodolu Babes forward Dominance Odubanjo scored a brace, while Iyasere Gift and Agbonu Aghogho netted to make it four, before Bankole Sofiat scored a consolation goal in the 77th minute.

Just as Awo United were enjoying their best spell in the second half, Ofatedo United took the lead through Muritala. A neat one-two allowed Asimiyu Ayomide to break into the Awo United box before cutting inside his marker and putting Jelili Muritala in a good position to slot in.

David Okoromi- The Prodigy that made Gold Cup possible for ABS FC.

By Yemi Sodeeq

There were many takeaways from the just concluded Ogunjobi Gold Cup but one can't just forget the impact of a young but rugged player called David Okoromi of ABS Ilorin FC.

After a quite not encouraging start by ABS, the team came back to thier feet in the second game against Gombe United as they won 2-1 with Okoromi causing a penalty for Mubarak Gata to slot in their first goal and he scoring the second to keep the hope alive - thus the beginning of their impressive run.

The 3 points secured in the second game actually inspired the Saraki boys into a resounding 2-0 victory over FC Ebedei in their last group game when Samuel Oyedeji hit a masterclass free kick to open the scoreline and Okoromi yet again capped it all for his side with another cool header- what is then the definition of consistency?

After the group stage games, his strategic positioning couped with his eagerness to always 'factored' in his team victory helped him in scoring three decisive goals in the semi-final and the final of the tourney.

He tormented Gombe United and drove their defence weak point with his brace in the final as he found the back of the net in the 56th and 60th minutes of the game. The Savannah scorpion couldn't recover from his damage and went on to lose the earlier secured advantage.

Fond of causing menace and  genuine threats to the defence of the opponent ,no doubt, the former Golden Eaglets invitee has got all it takes to become a force to reckon with in the season on the horizon.

Another hallmark worth to note is that David scored three of his goals from the competition's most valuable player Samuel Oyedeji's assist. For Samuel is another complete story of influence and leadership in the team.

One could also added that he is a manifestation of his club youth system that has always provide opportunities for young players to thrive in a record time.

As the highest goal scorer of the Gold cup tourney, he scored 5  of his club total 10 goals in the competition with a whole of his individual effort rendering the coast clear. Coach Anthony Encho might just need to apply all his tactics around the young lad whose energy and zeal look different from his age.

With his ability to play wide and deep,David can be trusted to hit the button anytime and anywhere in front of the goal. And if drought persists,he can always break the deadlock or perhaps play integral role to get one.

He is just an answer to some clubs problem. Why shouldn't some big teams in the tournament which had bitter experience of cutting edge secure the service of a player like him before he bears the thought of going elsewhere because he has been receiving invitation for trials in Europe.
