Osun 2022: We will Revive Osun Sports if Elected - Prince Kola Adewusi, PDP Deputy Governorship Candidate

Osun 2022: We will Revive Osun Sports if Elected - Prince Kola Adewusi, PDP Deputy Governorship Candidate

Deputy Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the July 16 Gubernatorial Election in Osun State, Prince Kola Adewusi has revealed plans by Senator Ademola Adeleke, the party's governorship candidate, to reposition the Sports Sector if elected saying the moribund state of sports called for restructuring of the sector to bring back the lost glory of the state in sports.

Adewusi who stated this in Osogbo on Wednesday, June 29 while speaking at the Stakeholders Forum, a personality interview programme of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Osun State Chapter, decried the poor state of sports in Osun and said there was the need to restructure the system and make the sports council more functional through establishment of Sports Commission and reinvigorating the zonal sports councils in the state to be able to harness potentials across the nook and cranny of the state.

He said, "Sports can generate fund for itself but it must first be put in a good state while the sector is handled by experienced and credible professional. One of our plans is by bringing back the zonal sports council and embarking on talent hunting from the grassroot whereby each local government will specialize in one area of sports it has comparative advantage. Talents discovered from each local government will now be monitored and trained by the zonal sports council while the best among them will be nurtured to the international podium by the state.

"This is the way to go and not just organizing a programme or talent hunting that has no credible direction and plan. We will also incorporate services of professionals, sports personalities and associations to be able to come up with good programmes that will take care of all categories of sports."

Speaking on the loss of Osun athletes to other states, the Ile-Ife born grassroot politician said, ""It's unfortunate that athletes from our State have been acquired by other states and are winning laurels for them due to poor welfare and non availability of facilities and equipment they need. The stadium complex which was always full of several activities from day to dusk is now looking like a desert as a result of wrong pegs in the right holes. We have identified all this and we're going to revive the sector. We will employ more coaches to train the young athletes and ensure that Osun State takes best athletes to national and international games.

When asked about the party's plan for Osun United and Osun Babes, Prince Adewusi said "we are following the two teams. They are our team. We know what they're going through. Imagine the state team without good vehicles, imagine the state teams  playing home matches in OAU Ile Ife and Ile-Ogbo, imagine the players sleeping at a petrol station. This is not Osun of our dream. The players are suffering. I want to assure them that their trying times are over as pur party have solid programmes to put smiles on their faces if elected on July 16, 2022," he concluded."

Earlier, Chairman of Osun SWAN, Timothy Agbor in his remarks appreciated the presence of Prince Adewusi and enjoined him to take the association's message to the Gubernatorial Candidate of the Party, Sen. Ademola Adeleke to ensure that they keep to their promises if elected into the position.

NNL: Ottasolo Angrily Quits The Race, Knocks COO

The management of Ottasolo FC have announced to the general Public their team (Ottasolo International Football Club) withdrawal from the Nigeria National League (NNL) due to loss of confidence in the management of the League Body.

According to the general manager of the team, Mr. John Marley who spoke with Ottasolo FC media,

“We have done our best to ensure that we continue with the league but the Nigeria National League (NNL) body has disappointed us in so many ways and they didn’t show any sign that they will improve, that is the reason we have decided to pull out of the league.

“The latest of their disappointment is to turn our 'Force Majeure Letter’ down. Despite our early notification to the league body on Saturday 25th June, 2022, when our vehicle developed a major fault en route Warri and requested that our match be rescheduled to a later date but to our greatest dismay the league body replied later through Lagos State FA as at 5pm that we should get another bus and still embark on the journey to Warri same day without considering the hazards on the Nigeria roads.

“We expected the NNL to consider our force majeure letter because it’s our first time of requesting that our match is rescheduled but they felt we don’t worth given a second chance as they went ahead with the match (Walkover) on Sunday, 26th June, 2022 awarding three points and three goals to Warri Wolves.

“In view of the above, we considered the NNL as a body that lack credible leadership and structure. Therefore, we have decided to pull out of the league. The general manger concluded.

It is a very good experience to participate in the second tier of Nigeria League; we will always bank on it to spur us to success in our next adventure.

Ajilore Hails Churchill Oliseh On Multi-Million Naira FC Ebedei Stadium

Ajilore Hails Churchill Oliseh On Multi-Million Naira FC Ebedei Stadium

Former Super Eagles midfielder, Ebenezer Oluwafemi Ajilore has poured encomiums on Barrister Churchill Oliseh for the multi-million Naira investment on FC Ebedei Stadium.

Ajilore, who started his professional career at FC Ebedei of Sgamu in 2002, and starred for FC Midtjylland of Denmark from 2004 to 2008, during which he scored five goals in 76 appearances, visited the club on Monday.

"I feel highly privileged to have passed through this academy and I owe my successes and all that I have achieved in life to FC Ebedei and club President Barrister Churchill Oliseh, who's like a father figure to many of us," said the Olympian.

"The visit to my boyhood club is memorable for me, and also to have a view of the FC Ebedei Stadium and off course the players who for me are the next football stars of tomorrow.

"I had a pep talk with them, all geared towards motivating and encouraging them to make the best use of the FC Ebedei platform, they keep  focus, believe in themselves and give their best in training and matches.

"The facility I have seen at FC Ebedei is world class and same with what you find in some parts of Europe. The playing turf is standard and it's practically what I have played on with some of the teams I featured for in Europe. As a player, you can't ask for more than this quality.

"Such good facility brings out the best in players as they would want to give more in training and matches.

"A big kudos to Barrister Churchill Oliseh for thinking this big by investing into this multi-million Naira project. FC Ebedei is a platform that has helped a lot of youths in Nigeria.

"The academy has taken many youths off the streets, which in the long run has helped to curb crime as many of these youngsters are no longer idle but engaged as they pursue a career in football.

"For me, am also delighted that am the first FC Ebedei product to featured for FC Midtjylland, so this project will produce more future stars for the Super Eagles."

Ajilore who helped Nigeria to winning a silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games men's football event, made his debut for the Super Eagles against Colombia in an international friendly on November 19, 2008.
