Remo Stars LAMA Donates Trophy To Unique Egalitarian Soccer Tourney

Sulaimon Kamil, Assistant Coach of Nigeria's flag-bearers in the CAF Champions League Remo Stars has donated a trophy to the organisers of the Unique Egalitarian Soccer Championship.

Kamil popularly known as “LAMA” by his admirers, and a grassroot football lover, says the gesture was his own little way to promote the growth of the beautiful round leather game in Ede.

The 17th edition of the Unique Egalitarian Soccer Championship which is a free-age tourney for male grassroot football teams based in and out of Ede-Osun State, kicked off on Saturday 12th of August.

"Am delighted to be associated with the Unique Egalitarian Soccer Championship which is currently on going in Ede. This is not the first time am supporting the tourney (by way of cash or trophy/award) for the development of grassroot football in my own little way," said LAMA.

"It all started for me in Ede as a rookie-turned professional player and retired to becoming a certified coach. As one who has passion for the sport, I know this gesture and tournament will go a long way to harnessing the football talents in Ede, and by extension give these players a sense of belonging."

Technical Director of the Unique Egalitarian Soccer Championship, Coach Emmanuel Oyedunmola expressed his sincere thanks to the Remo Stars assistant coach.

"I want to use this medium to thank LAMA for his kind gesture towards a successful hosting of this year's edition of the Unique Egalitarian Soccer Tournament in Ede.

"He shown that he has passion for the youths and growth of grassroot football in his community. I pray Almighty Allah to continue blessing him in many folds and promotes him in his coaching career.

"The trophy he presented is one of our important need, as it won't speak well of the championship organizers if we don't present a winners silverware, as the winning team won't celebrate with something.

"So we are delighted that LAMA has gone of his way to gift us a trophy, not minding the cash crunch many are facing in the country presently."

Thirty-two teams have been accredited and drawn into eight (8) groups, with four teams each competing in the group phase to qualify for the Round of 16.
