Ekene Berates NFF Over NNL Indefinite Suspension, Calls For Fresh Start

By Seyi Akanni

The Chief Executive Officer of Kaduna based Nigeria National League side Kada City, Ekene Abubakar Adams, has fingered the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF for putting up a catastrophic system that fathom the ills that greeted 2019/2020 abandoned NNL season.

Youngest as the astute football administrator is fondly called by his admirers spoke vehemently while featuring on Family United By Football FUBF Personality Interview.

Recall that the Chidi Ofor led National League board suspended the season on December 22, 2019 and later declared the league suspended indefinitely in January 2020, Ekene reacted thus, "You don't appoint incompetent board and expect smooth running of the league.

"There were interests and secret declarations of the league winner even before the commencement of the league. Yes, I have the evidence, that's  part of reasons I decided to withdraw from the league. The atmosphere is toxic and I can't keep investing where the returns on investment is zero."

Ekene who worked with Mighty Jets as Team Manager, from where he joined FC Abuja as Team Manager, also had a stint with Kano Pillars and later joined Remo Stars as the General Coordinator and today he's the owner of Kada City FC seeks a fresh start of the Nigeria National League season, and further demanded urgent subventions to clubs from Nigeria Football Federations.

"We secured a 3-year sponsorship package from ValueJet Airline and it's a nice deal for us at Kada City. The deal would ensure that the club returns to Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL.

"The current leadership of the NFF are not being fair to private investors, some of us even refuse to speak up amidst fear of killing our clubs. I call on the Pinnick led board to kindly look towards private clubs and support us from the fund received from the world football governing body, FIFA.

"I believe we don't have the wherewithal to continue the league. The novel virus is on the rise in the country and we don't have what it is to control the situations, a fresh season will benefit all parties. Someone interest shouldn't superceed the health of the common man.

"We lack necessary tools to confront dangers when it arrives, imagine common ambulance we couldn't provide in Lafia, Nasarrawa State that led to death of a player, how much more the issue of COVID-19.  l advise the season be suspended and start afresh." Ekene, who had time with Sitra FC of Bahrain as a player from where he joined Sudan league side, Al-Huwal FC before he called it quit concluded.
