Benue FA Elections: Paul Edeh Guns For Top Seat, Highlights Astounding Reward System If Elected




As elections into the board of Benue State Football Association draws nearer, FA Chairmanship hopeful, Barrister Paul Edeh has stated in clear terms how he would further invest in football and facilitate its developments upon receiving the mantle.


Barrister Edeh, a Commercial and Property Lawyer, Human Rights Advocate, and Sports Promoter with keen interests in the promotion of the game of football, spoke brilliantly to a top sports platform, Family United By Football (FUBF), during a session tagged, 'Personality Interview'.


He expertly uncoiled fascinating programs aimed at improving grassroot football by empowering Local Football Councils with adequate resources and running a transparent administration cum fascinating reward system for stakeholders.



"A lot can be achieved by creating a model for Local Football Councils to operate like the State FA, if they can raise the funds needed, it will empower them to improve the game of football. Am planning to host nothing less than 10 tournaments in a year across the state, creating a reward system for exceptional players so that the state can become a talent hub of fantastic players.



"Also, am planning to build capacity and raise the enthusiasm of young coaches, and young referees and also to get players that have made an impact to give back to society. We will also involve state government and corporate bodies including spirited individuals to galvanize the efforts of the board."



The founder of ambitious women's football sides Naija Ratel FC and Honey Badger FC, Barrister Paul Edeh, a humanitarian who has consistently donated footballs and jerseys to grassroot teams recounted his involvement in such projects more in Benue than the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).



 "I have done more for football in Benue than FCT, Ratel Preseason Tournament started in Benue, I founded a men's team over a decade ago in Benue and hired an expatriate as the coach. I have repeatedly organized grassroot tourneys with donations of equipment and kits to teams for over a decade. 




"For the past three years, I have funded a state league through Ratel Sports Development Foundation (Ratel Benue State League). Honey Badger is still the only notable female team in Benue today. Benue is my state and I would love to go back and provide selfless leadership to the Football Associations.




"My message to congress members is that I will keep to my promises, like l always do. I am coming to FA not for what I will need, I am coming with a lot of values on the table. I will provide the right leadership and encourage football development at the grassroot, football crises will be crashed down at the local level so that football becomes affordable. I will pursue funding for Benue State FA and works with the current leadership of Nigeria Football Federations to ensure that Benue hosts National Matches, we will improve on the structure on ground and form partnerships. I will make everyone have the trust that the game of football is their own." Barrister Paul Edeh pledged.

One of the leading candidates in the forthcoming Osun Football Association Elections, Mr. Sola Fanawopo has highlighted some of his plans ahead of the Tuesday elections in Osogbo. 



Fanawopo, a Chartered Public Administrator was a special guest on the Family United By Football (FUBF) personality interview session, held on Saturday evening ahead of the elective Congress of the Osun State football body. 



The 'Igbajo' born Football Administrator revealed that if elected as the Chairman of the Osun Football Association, he will bring in massive changes, that would in turn bring good fortunes to the state of football in the state.



"Once we have the right marketing tools in place , the right branding in place, we would be able to get the required support, not only for the state league, but all our other programmes. The most important thing is for us to do the basic work, package our programmes very well and make it attractive to investors. 



"We are lucky in Osun State, we have alot of top individuals in the Business World, who are waiting for us to put our acts together, so they can come invest in our football. 



The Fintech Enthusiast and Media Entrepreneur also noted that grassroots football is going to be key in his drive to change the face of Osun Football.



"Promotion of grassroot football is very imperative, because that would be the bedrock of our success. We are going to re-introduce the Headmasters Cup and it's going to be a permanent feature in our Calendar for each year, same with the Principal's Cup. 



"These tournaments are unquestionable and we must do it. This will not only enable us discover talents from the grassroots, it would also give our Local Coaches to be able to get organised and get themselves ready for bigger things ahead, also make the Referees and other stakeholders active. 



"It is only when we have this kind of competitions at primary and secondary level that we can begin to attract more people to football, because the idea is that everyone must get involved in football. It would equally help the Local Government Chairmen to remain active and resourceful.

Osun Football Association Chairmanship Aspirant Alhaji Olayiwola Olafiranye has assured he would carry all Stakeholders along, if voted Chairman of the Osun Football body on Tuesday, 13th of June 2023. 


Olafiranye was speaking on Friday, during the Family United By Football (FUBF) special personality interview session for all candidates of the FA Elections.


"I will make sure all hands are on deck, every Stakeholders will be involved directly," Olafiranye noted. 


"We are going to carry everyone along and every Stakeholders will have a role to play. We will also make sure that before every quarter of the year, every Stakeholder will get involved through seminars, meetings or trainings, one way or the other, it will make us have a good activity calendar, which will in return help us forge ahead to have a better governance.". 


While calling for the rebirth of a new Osun Football Association, the Oil magnate also assured that new innovations and proper planning are in place to bring in investors that would turn around the fortune of the state FA.


"I am determined to change the face of Osun Football. Our first plan is to renovate the Taiwo Ogunjobi House, within our first three months, this would ensure a conducive environment for the FA Staff and other  stakeholders of football in the state. 


"We have made proper arrangements for investors to come into our football, because It is very important for the private sectors to play a role in the development of football in the state. Also, shortly after my emergence as Chairman,  a contract will be signed with a reputable company, for the production of customised footballs with high quality for easy enhanced of the round leather game in the state. 


The 2023 Osun State Football Association Elections will take place on Tuesday, 13th of June in Osogbo.

The three aspirants into the chairmanship position of the Osun State Football Association Chief Ishola Rasaq Mustapha, Mr. Sola Fanawopo and Alhaji Olafiranye Olayiwola on Friday June 9 promised to return the lost glory of Osun Football if elected in the June 13, 2023 FA election holding in Osogbo, the state Capital.



The trio who presented their mission to the teeming Osun Football lovers during a debate organized by the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, Osun State Chapter which held at the NUJ Press Centre, Osogbo admitted that Osun football development was facing many challenges such as infrastructure decay, negligence by the government, lack of clear cut football policy, poor capacity building among others which require quick action.



They all promised to look inward and engage in the business of Football through partnership with private individuals and corporate organizations to run activities of the association and depend less on government.



According to them, “Osun has potential to raise budding talents from the grassroots who can become international stars but much has not been done to create a platform to capture them and nurture them to stardom.” They all promised to find solutions to the challenges if elected.



Earlier in his opening speech, Chairman, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Osun State Chapter, Timothy Agbor urged all aspirants to see themselves as one whose mission was to develop Osun football and by extension Osun Sports sector. Agbor assured whoever wins of full support from Osun SWAN.



The FA election which holds Tuesday next week will be decided by 37 delegates across the 30 local government areas of Osun State and 7 other stakeholders.

Otunba Soname resigns from IMC

 

Proprietor of Remo Stars Football Club of Ikenne, Otunba Adekunle Soname OFR, has resigned his appointment with the Interim Management Committee of the Nigeria Premier Football League.

 

In a letter dated 23 May 2023 and addressed to the NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, Otunba Soname wrote: “Let this letter serve as my official resignation from the Interim Management Committee of the Nigeria Premier Football League effective immediately.

 

“While thanking you for the opportunity to serve on the committee, I wish the Nigeria Football Federation and the Interim Management Committee of the Nigeria Premier Football League all the very best.”

 

NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau has since accepted the resignation and thanked Otunba Soname for his robust efforts in the IMC and his continuing contributions to the growth of Nigeria Football.
