Dogo may not return to Sunshine Stars, here's why

Seyi Joshua

Despite the harmonious relationships that existed between coach Kabiru Dogo and the relevant stakeholders in Akure last season, the soft spoken tactician's reign at Sunshine Stars might have bummed out, reports Coded Sports.

The coach is believed to have been bent out of shape and he's particularly up in  arms about some variables seemingly intransigent and pigheaded as regards the conditions of service in the club.

Sunshine Stars offered Dogo a year contract at the beginning of 2018/2019 Nigeria Professional Football League season in Akure and the contract has since expired since June this year.

The former Nasarawa United tactician is yet to be seen in Akure despite the fact that the club has resumed since Monday, 22nd of July.

A top official informed that, "there is a contract on the table" for coach Kabiru Dogo but it is yet to be decided by the coach as to weather he would sign the dotted line or not.

According to a report, several NPFL clubs are on the trail of Dogo but a certain club side in the east would like to secure his service. Dogo who is demanding for improvements from the previous contract, better working conditions and a worthwhile welfare packages for his technical crew, may not pen another deal with 'Owena Whales' if situations remain unchanged in the coming days.

According to his agent,  "Dogo is willing to continue with Sunshine stars,  because of the love and care he received from the Chairman of the Club and the good people of Ondo State especially the good working relationship between him and his technical assistants.

"However, the events may take another turn if Sunshine management refuse to adjust some conditions in the contract. There are pressure from top clubs in the country to secure Dogo's service but we are taking our time to see which one is the best  because Dogo deserves the best. I would have loved him to continue his job with Sunshine Star beign an indigene of Ondo State and the present chairman of the club is like a father to me but things must be done professionally." Lanre Famakinwa concluded.
