NSC, NFF Set Up WAFCON Welfare Committee As Super Falcons Target Title Defence In Morocco

The Leadership of the National Sports Commission, NSC, in collaboration with the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has set up a WAFCON  Welfare Committee for the Nigerian Super Falcons in their title defense for the Women's Nations cup in Morocco.

Following a successful meeting that was held between the Director General of the NSC, Hon. Bukola Olopade and the General Secretary of the NFF, Dr Mohammed Sanusi in Abuja on Wednesday, the seven member committee was set up which will be chaired by NFF Executive Board member, Aisha Falode while Ruth David will serve as the Committee's Secretary.

Other members of the committee include; Rt. Hon. Margaret Icheen, Babagana Kalli, Emeka Iyama, Aderonke Tinuoye, and Tobechukwu Oluchi.

Director General of the NSC, Hon. Bukola Olopade said the Federal Government is committed to ensuring that the Super Falcons have a hitch-free tournament, devoid of any form of financial rancour.

" Mr President, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR alongside the First lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu CON, are both personally committed to seeing that the Falcons successfully defend their title in Morocco which is why this ad-hoc committee was put in place to further assist the NFF to ensure a seamless campaign for team".

" Welfare is an unnegotiable key part of any team's competition success and with this committee, the players can be rest assured that the NSC and NFF are taking their welfare very seriously for the WAFCON", he added.

The General Secretary of the NFF, Dr Muhammed Sanusi said this is another history making step by both the National Sports Commission and the NFF because it is the first time this kind of committee is being set up for the senior Women National team ahead of a major tournament.

" For us at the NFF, this shows the level of commitment the NSC is putting on Women's football and it will only make the women's game to continue to grow rapidly in the country".

" We believe this committee is not going to the WAFCON to take the responsibilities of anybody but to make sure we have a seamless campaign for the tournament".
