Shooting Stars Appoint Salisu Yusuf As New Technical Adviser
_Oluyole Warriors turn to experienced tactician to drive domestic and continental ambitions_
Shooting Stars Sports Club have named Coach Salisu Yusuf as their new Technical Adviser, with the Oluyole Warriors hoping his two decades of experience can power a fresh push for silverware.
The Ibadan club confirmed the appointment on Thursday, describing Yusuf as the right man to lead the team into the new NPFL season and beyond.
Yusuf’s journey began at Nasarawa United in 2002, and since then he has handled some of the biggest names in Nigerian football.
His CV includes stints with Kano Pillars, Rangers International, and Enyimba, and his most recent job was with Coton Sport in Benin Republic.
The 64-year-old is also no stranger to the national team setup. He has served as an assistant coach of the Super Eagles, and has led both the Super Eagles B and Nigeria U-23 sides.
His biggest international highlight came in 2018 when he guided the home-based Super Eagles to the final of the African Nations Championship, CHAN, in Morocco.
In a club statement, Shooting Stars said Yusuf’s "wealth of experience, deep understanding of Nigerian football and proven ability to work with and develop homegrown talent" made him the ideal fit.
The club added that they are confident he will bring "strong leadership, tactical expertise and a winning mentality" as 3SC chase success both at home and on the continent.
"We warmly welcome Coach Salisu Yusuf to Shooting Stars Sports Club and wish him a successful and rewarding tenure with the club," the statement read.
For the Oluyole Warriors, the appointment signals intent. After years of inconsistency, 3SC are banking on a coach who knows the NPFL terrain inside out and has a track record of building competitive teams with local players.
With the new season around the corner, all eyes will be on how quickly Yusuf can stamp his style on the team and get Shooting Stars back among Nigeria’s elite.
