We fought a balanced squad in Osogbo - Danjuma

Akanni Seyi

Kesiena Ojiyovw 27th minutes strike proved the difference as Osun Babes put hard fighting Nasarawa Amazons to the sword in week nine (9) encounter of the Nigeria Women Premier League.

The table-toppers (Nasarawa Amazons)
approached the game with excellent touches all around the pitch, Almakura girls caused the early scare through their top-scorer Anam Imo but kudos to the host's keeper Linda Jiwuaku for relieving the pressure with a swift sweeper.

Respite came the way of Omoluabi Queens in the 27th minute when Kesiena Ojiyovw scored a rebound past Nwankwo Chioma in goal for the Amazons.

The goal ensured Osun Babes picked their fifth (5th) win of the season and fourth (4th) consecutive victories in successive
games.

The Nasarawa Amazons showed class and flashes stylishly and came close to level the score twice, deep in the second half.

Mathias Josephine almost caught goalkeeper Linda Jiwaku off her line, but her range effort was denied by crossbar.

Deep into extra time, second half, new entrant Emenike Ijeoma almost levelled for the Almakura girls, but her thumping header was saved by Linda Jiwuaku, just seconds before the final whistle was blown. Omoluabi Queen's defender, Sarah Iloduba was adjudged to be the player of the match.

Osun Babes presently occupied second (2nd) spot
on the log with sixteen (16) points from nine (9)
games and will face Pelican Stars next week
wednesday at the U.J Esuene Stadium, Calabar.

" Our opponent today showed a lot of class and their squad was balanced compared to what we mauled in the reverse fixture.

" We came here to win just as we did last season but we met a stiffer opposition in Osun Babes, l want to salute the girls for their wonderful performance. Hard luck prevented us from getting a point here today.

"Although, we were wasteful in front of goals at some point, this has further exposed why l need to go back and work on our scoring instinct." Coach Christopher Danjuma of Nasarawa Amazons spoke to codedreporter.blogspot.com.ng
