Special Adviser On Islamic Affairs Lauds Governor Makinde On Religious Harmony In Oyo

 The Special Adviser to the Governor on Islamic Affairs, Imam (Dr.) Abdulrasheed Adewale Abdulazeez has commended the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, for promoting religious harmony and peaceful coexistence among adherents of different faiths in the state. 

Imam Abdulazeez gave the commendation in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday, May 23, 2026, while addressing journalists on the conduct of Oyo State pilgrims participating in the ongoing Hajj exercise, noting that the pilgrims have distinguished themselves through discipline, obedience, and exemplary behavior throughout their stay in the holy land.

According to him, the peaceful atmosphere and mutual respect enjoyed among religious groups in Oyo State are reflections of Governor Makinde’s inclusive style of leadership. He stated that the governor has consistently demonstrated fairness to all religions without discrimination, thereby strengthening peace and stability in the state.

"We are grateful to Allah for giving us Oluseyi Makinde as our Governor. He is such a pragmatic and fair-minded leader whose administration continues to foster unity across religious divides. The ancient city of Oyo comprises several adherents of different religions who have been co-habiting together peacefully, without rancour or rift. This boils down to the pragmatic leadership of our Governor, whose style of governance is worthy of emulation. This has also translated to the good conduct of our pilgrims in Mecca, which made the job easy for the Muslim Welfare Board, under the leadership of Mogaji Haseem Atere. We are confident that Oyo State will maintain its standard and emerge the best among other states from Nigeria", declared Dr. Abdulazeez 

The Special Adviser further praised the Governor for supporting religious activities and ensuring equal opportunities for both Muslims and Christians in the state, adding that such a balanced approach to governance has earned Makinde the admiration and support of many residents across different religious and ethnic backgrounds.

He also offered prayers for the continued success, wisdom, and elevation of Governor Makinde in his leadership journey. He expressed hope that the governor would continue to enjoy divine guidance as he works towards the progress and development of Oyo State.
