Sporting Lagos have been crowned champions of the 2026 NNL Super Four, edging out local rivals Inter Lagos on goal difference after a dramatic final day at Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne-Remo.
The “Noisy Lagosians” went into Matchday 3 needing just a point to secure the title, and though they fell 1-0 to Inter Lagos in the Lagos derby, their earlier results proved enough. Sporting Lagos finished top of the table with 6 points from three games, having opened the tournament with a 1-0 win over Ranchers Bees before dismantling Doma United 4-0 on Matchday 2.
Inter Lagos also ended the championship on 6 points, following a 1-0 loss to Doma United, a 1-0 win over Ranchers Bees, and Friday’s derby victory. But Sporting’s superior goal tally gave them the edge and the ₦10,000,000 prize money that comes with the trophy.
Ranchers Bees and Doma United finished third and fourth respectively, completing the quartet of promoted clubs that will feature in the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
For Sporting Lagos, the Super Four triumph caps a rapid rise since the club’s founding and signals their readiness for top-flight football. Inter Lagos, Ranchers Bees, and Doma United will also head home with momentum, using the next few weeks to regroup and prepare for the challenges of the NPFL.
The final day in Ikenne delivered the drama, tension, and quality that defined a competitive Super Four, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting season ahead for Nigeria’s second-tier graduates.
