The chairman of Grassroot Football Coaches Association in the State of Osun, Coach Adeleke Rasheed has expressed his happiness and heaped praises on the organizers, after winning the second edition of Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi Golden Cup competition.
The grassroot competition which is aimed at discovering the raw and skillful talents across the state lived to the billing with the calibre of grassroot clubs that participated in the competition.
Olorunda FC emerged the overall winner of the thirty two (32) grassroot clubs that registered for the tournament. Yah Jamiu lsibo FC of Ede dominated the proceeding early in the final before Olorunda FC later woke up and ended the tie with power and flair thereby stung Yah Jamiu by two goals to nothing.
The winning coach of the competition noted; " l bless Almighty Allah for giving us the opportunity of winning this tournament. My boys have really showcased the stuff they were made of by trashing our neighbor from Ede by 2-0.
"We are currently appealing to the executive secretary of Olorunda Local Government to
kindly come to the aid of the team by paying stipends to these boys monthly. We are currently in dire need of training kits, footballs and training pitch among others." He spoke to codedreporter.blogspot.com.ng.
While commending the organizer of the competition, he said, "Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi has seen it all in the football industry, he has developed so many players quite numerous to mention, so many sport administrators have passed through him and have benefitted immensely from his wealth of knowledge. I give kudos to him for giving us the platform to showcase our self, l pray for longevity of his soul in sound health." He concluded.
Osogbo agog with the presence of top football administrators in the country. Barrister Seyi Akinwumi, Alh. Ahmed Yusuf Fresh, Alh. Rabiu lnuwa, Dr. Robinson Okosun, Alh. Dahiru Saheed, Alh. Mohammed Alkali among others witnessed the the final.
