Aiteo Cup: Osun Babes are battle ready - Liadi

Akanni Seyi

Osogbo township Stadium this afternoon will come alive when the rivalry shall be rekindled between Omoluabi Queens and lbom Angels, in the round of 16 encounter of Aiteo Cup.

Anthony Esther and Waheed Suliyat were  on target when Osun Babes put Ibom Angels to the sword during their last meeting in Osogbo.

Osun Babes will depend on the expertise of Esther Elijah, Sarah lloduba and Yakub Sarah to curtail any threat by their opponent while the likes of  Anjor Mary, lkoyo Rejoice and Edewor Precious shall remain the counter outlet for the host.

To many football pundits, knockout football is totally different from league football and that's why the technical crew of Osun Babes FC are leaving no stone unturned ahead of the round of 16 encounter with the 'Orange Ladies'.

Coach Liadi Bashiru of Osun Babes expressed that Ibom Angels are a very good side that can spring out surprises if not fully contained. He said " I expect them to play aggressively and on the counter attacks, because they have very fast players upfront.

" Our philosophy and idea is to concentrate fully on the game and win. We have to be strong and make our fans happy. We will be playing just 2hours before Osun United and we have to win well to give our boys the extra moral and boost to go past Elkanemi Babes easily"

" It is glaring that Ibom Angels have bounced back from their disappointing NWPL season and will give all they have against us in the Aiteo Cup"  He concluded.

In the same vein, Ibom Angels Boss, Whyte Ogbonda feels his side will give a good account of themselves on wednesday and wants his girls to win outrightly.

"We are in against a tough side, we have played a couple of times in the past. We want to progress in the Aiteo Cup and a win on wednesday will do that for us.

"We have prepared so well for this game and we are fully confident ahead of this game as it is the last opportunity for us to win a silverware this season".

Both teams were drawn bye in the round of 32 of the Aiteo Cup and will have some of their regulars absent in the tie, because of national team assignment.

The duo of NWPL top-scorer Reuben Charity and Esther Elijah will be absent, as both players are up at the Falconets camp ahead of the FIFA Women U20 WorldCup qualifier against the Tanzania U20 Ladies at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on saturday.
