Kerosene stars as Osun United secured a vital away point


Nurudeen Lateef, was Osun United's hero as the goalkeeper produced fine saves to ensure the Omoluabi Giants left the Umuahia Township Stadium with a 0-0 draw against Abia Comets on Sunday evening.

There were several eye-catching saves made by Kerosene as the former FC Ebedei and Gray's International goalkeeper is fondly called, as he kept out everything Comets threw at him.

Kerosene brilliance, helped the Omoluabi Giants picked a vital point away from home as there were few clear-cut opportunities in the opening period but Osun United well-organised defence frustrated Abia Comets.

Comets inspiring midfielder Raphael Ademola, in the 5th minute dribble past Obasi Chigozie, and he set up Okoro Marshal who did a one touch to Ibrahim Olawoyin, but Kerosene was smart enough to parry the later placing to corner.

In the 30th minute Comets went so close yet again but Kerosene, denied Olawoyin's thunderous shot from close range.

A minute later, Kerosene, produced another scintillating double point blank saves to deny Arinze Obioma and Raphael Ademola.

In the 60th minute Kerosene put up another audacious save to deny Pascal Eke's close range strike.

Olawoyin, in the 77th minute with his mesmerizing moves at the edge of United box, anf he tried a shot that was well saved by Kerosene.

Osun United best chance came through Dare Olatunji, after connecting a through pass from Victor Okeji, and his strike was well saved by Comets goalkeeper, Onyeomabi Somadina.

Osun United have garnered twenty seven (27) points from twenty (20) matches and will welcome Unicem Rovers Football Club at the Oshogbo Township Stadium on Saturday.
