NNL: Papilo FC nailed Osun United in three goals thriller

It was a keenly contested game as Papilo FC first half goals secures the maximum three points for the host in one of week 22 fixtures of the Bet9ja, Nigeria National League at the Dan Anyiam stadium Owerri.

The host dictated the tempo  in the early minutes of the game as Uchenna Njoku and  Taylor Adebayor brilliant moves unravelled Osun United defensive set up.

The visitors nearly settled fully before Babma Bakari squares in brilliantly, Nurudeen Lateef in goal for Osun United parried the ball in the direction of the hosts' striker, Adebayor Taylor whose half volley from point blank opened the account for the host.

Omoluabi Giants through Dare Olatunji and Tosin Omoyele asked questions successively as their efforts were inches wide having benefitted from the lofty range of Olalere Hakeem.

Osun United responded with a goal two minutes from half hour mark, when Olalere Hakeem launches an interchange with Chinedu Emmanuel and the latter's cross was unerringly scrambled into the hosts' net by onrushing Jide Fatokun.

The jubilation nearly lasted when Uchenna Njoku increased the tally for his side after beating the offside trap in United's dangerous area at the stroke of half hour mark.

Victor Okeji's strike at the tale end of the first half would have  ensured an evenly distributed opportunities after lacing Obasi's long range outwards from twelve (12) yards.

The game was fast and furious deep into second half, given the cagey approach from both sides, with the visitor dictating the pace intermittently.

Omoyele was brought down by Akanni Richard at the edge of Papilo's box after turning in Kajas Ifeanyi at exactly an hour mark, Chinedu Emmanuel sublimely nodded the resultant free kick past Omoregie Nobas in goal for Papilo FC only for assistant referee to flag his brilliant dive offside.

Memud Akorede was later called upon in a substitution that made the captain Hakeem Olalere to give way with ten minutes remaining. The visitors once again was unfortunate as the center referee canceled another towering header by Jide Fatokun which resulted in goal.

The two goals were enough for Papilo FC as referee brought the game to an end amidst tension.

The score line ensures the four (4) game unbeaten runs of the visitor has ended.

Believe and Achieve Gladiators shall welcome Warri Wolves at the Osogbo Township Stadium next weekend in the match day 23 of the Nigerian National League.
