NPFL: Twenty seven points up for grab - Duke Udi




Sunshine Stars FC coach, Duke Udi has stated that 27 points is still available to fight for in the last nine match days of the 2016/17 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season, ahead of his side contest  today against Rivers United, codedreporter.blogspot.com.ng gathers.


The former Nigeria international who admitted that the home loss to Nasarawa United FC on Sunday was a setback in his team survival quest reiterated that, nothing is secured or lost yet in the current NPFL campaign.

Udi stated: "The technical crew, players and everyone felt bad about the defeat. We played so well but were so unlucky. They (Nasarawa United) had two chances and utilised one."


"A victory would have taken us out of the relegation fight and by now we would be thinking of consolidation, but that's gone now in cannot be changed and we are moving forward. We still have 27 points to fight for in the remainder of the campaign, nothing is won or lost yet."


Rivers United who have failed to prevail against Sunshine Stars in 3 attempts host the Akure Landlords in a week 30 NPFL pairing on Wednesday at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Portharcourt, and Udi, who did not give much away on the game is foreseeing a good contest between the two sides.



Udi noted: "Rivers United are a continental team given their recent campaing in CAF Competition, and they have a good and experienced manager in Stanley Eguma. We young coaches look up to."



"We respect them but we don't fear them. We have come to play and aim to give a good show. It is not going to be an easy game for both sides but I hope the people get value for their money." - Erstwhile Osun United gaffer confirmed to club Media.
