The serving commissioner in charge of Sports, Special Protection and Special Needs in the State of Osun, Hon. Com. Biyi Odunlade has affirmed that the prestigious Principal Cup shall return to public schools in the state in due course.
While featuring on the monthly guest platform of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Osun State Chapter, the commissioner reiterated that, talks and preparations are ongoing to ensure the smooth resurgence of the tournament.
" All our model schools have good football pitch and other sporting activities. That shows how much the governor wants to develop sports in the State.
" The Osun State Principal Cup will rise again under my administration. We are working towards it." He stated.
The commissioner who is equally the Zonal Chairman of Shooting Federation of Nigeria admitted that there are numerous, talented and skillful youths in nooks and crannies of the state. He therefore vowed to use his good office to create platforms for the hidden talents to come to limelight and represent the State in the future tournaments.
" All the sporting activities in the states will be developed. We won't focus on football alone.
" We need to identify talents across the states and help them develop their skills."
"We have received the financial backing from the governor to procure and install sporting facilities that will aid the training of our lads, most especially those that will represent the State in Ilorin later in the year." He concluded.
